Trinity Wesleyan Church We are here to help people become faithful followers of Jesus Christ.

Awana

"Awana helps churches and parents work together to develop spiritually strong children and youth who faithfully follow Jesus Christ." Trinity Wesleyan Church has Awana programs for ages 2-5 (Cubbies), grades K-2nd (Sparks), and grades 3rd-6th (T&T). Awana groups meet Wednesdays at 7:00pm.

Awana Cubbies

The Awana Cubbies program is for children ages 2 - 5, and its primary purpose is to assist parents in providing their children with vital spiritual training. This is accomplished in four basic ways:

1. Solid, Biblical Teaching - The basic concepts of Christianity are taught through Bible-based handbooks and fun activities.
2. Parental Involvement - The Cubbies program acknowledges parents as the main source of their child’s spiritual education and works to support the parents by encouraging them to work directly with their child on the weekly handbook lessons.
3. Dedicated, Caring Leaders and Fun Characters - Volunteer leaders from Trinity work hard to be good role models and to build a spiritual foundation in your child’s life. Along their journey, they are accompanied by great characters like Ern E. Elephant, Gigi Giraffe, Luv E. Lamb, Zip E. Zebra, and Cubbie Bear.
4. Fun! - Games, awards, crafts, and other exciting activities make each week a fun-filled learning experience.

Here’s what your child will learn by the end of the two year program:
  • About 55 memory verses (or as many as 120 more verses if your child completes the extra –credit curriculum).
  • The basic truths about God, Jesus Christ, the Bible, and salvation.
  • The message of the gospel and the need to accept Jesus Christ as Savior.

Curriculum Overview

Before beginning the handbooks, parents and children go through an introductory brochure that briefly describes the program. In addition, God’s salvation plan is explained in simple, easy to understand terms. Once the introduction is complete, children go through two handbooks.

Each book contains 24 Bear Hug sections and six special-day sections (optional). Every Bear Hug section starts with a fun story that contains a biblical truth, followed by a verse to memorize and an activity to help the child understand the main point.

Children will enjoy the bright, colorful illustrations and parents will enjoy working with their child on each section. Two additional handbooks are available with more verses and great activities if the parent and child would like to get extra credit.

Awana Sparks

Sparks is for children in grades Kindergarten through 2nd.

Curriculum Overview

Each child who enters Sparks begins with the entrance booklet introducing them to the gospel message and is built on the key verse "John 3:16". After completing the introduction, children begin the "HangGlider" handbook, which tells stories of people from Genesis through Joshua. The second handbook is "WingRunner" which begins at Joshua and continues through Jesus' birth. Finally, the third handbook "SkyStormer" focuses on New Testament characters.

The biographies not only tell stories about the people in the Bible, but are chronological and include timelines. Sparks' handbooks are based on a flight theme and create storylines using Sparkie, a firefly, and three children: Jacob, Joel and Chloe. Throughout the handbooks, children will learn key memory versus and upon completing various sections achieve awards such as a club membership card, club vest, along with emblems and jewels to wear on their vests.

Awana T & T - Truth and Training

Truth and Training is an Awana club for kids in the third through the sixth grades. The primary focus, as the name suggests, is to teach children God’s Word and then train them to apply what they learn in every day life.

Fun and Adventure! Here are some features of this program that will make it fun for children to learn about the Bible and about life’s greatest adventure - a relationship with Jesus: Children will have four handbooks to go through, and will be challenged as each increases in difficulty. As the children go through the books, each adventure is accompanied by fun characters who teach important lessons.

The curriculum is based on Biblical truth so that children are given a firm foundation on which to build their faith. Scripture memory and application of God’s Word are also key elements. Interactive CDs allow kids to play exciting games which help them to further understand what they are learning. Groups meet on a weekly basis and work on Scripture memorization, study the Bible, hear the gospel message, play fun team-games, and earn awards.

Goals

Here’s what a child will have accomplished by the end of this curriculum:
  • Memorized about 310 verses
  • Heard and read the gospel message regularly
  • Participated in mission-oriented projects
  • Studied many passages out of both the New and Old Testaments
  • Learned what the Bible says in answer to key questions and which verses back it up
